VideoCreator User Guide

Short AI video clips from a sentence or a picture, made in your browser with your own OpenRouter key.

What it does

Think of it as a vending machine for tiny movies. You type what should happen, pick how long the clip should be, and press Create. About a minute later the clip appears and you can play it, save it, or make another. Hand it a picture and it will bring that picture to life instead of starting from scratch.

VideoCreator works the same on a phone, tablet or PC, and you can add it to your home screen like an app.

One-time setup

1. Create a free account at OpenRouter.
2. Add some credit. Ten dollars makes a good number of clips.
3. Create an API key and copy it.
4. Paste it into VideoCreator and press Test my key. The test is free.

The key is stored only in your browser and is only ever sent to OpenRouter. There is no account with us, no subscription, and no markup. You pay OpenRouter at cost.

Video costs real money

This is the big difference from making pictures. A picture costs a few cents. A video clip costs anywhere from about 20 cents to several dollars, depending on the model, the length, and the resolution. Two things protect you:

• Confirm before each video. A box shows the model and settings, plus what the last clip on that model cost. You can turn this off in Settings once you know your way around.
• The exact charge shows on every clip after it finishes, and Settings keeps a running total for this device.

Making a clip

Control	What it does
Model (top bar)	Which AI makes the clip. The list is pulled live from OpenRouter every time the app opens. Veo 3.1 Lite is the cheap default.
Length	4 to 10 seconds. Each model allows only certain lengths. If you pick one it does not support, OpenRouter tells you which ones it does.
Resolution	480p, 720p or 1080p. Higher costs more and takes longer.
Ratio	16:9 for landscape, 9:16 for phone-shaped vertical video, and so on.
Picture button	Start from your own image. The clip begins as that picture and your text says what happens next. Not every model supports this; the ones that do not will say so.

You do not have to wait. Press Create, type the next idea, press Create again. Each clip shows a timer while it renders, and the list updates on its own when one finishes. You can close the app and come back; anything still rendering picks up where it left off.

Saving clips

Clips are kept in your browser for convenience, but phones clear that space whenever they feel like it. Press Save on any clip you want to keep. On a phone that opens the share sheet so you can put it in your photo library. On a computer it downloads an MP4.

Tips

• Describe motion, not just a scene: "the camera slowly pushes in", "leaves blow across the road".
• Use Use these settings on a finished clip to try the same idea with a small change.
• Try the cheap model first. Once the idea works, re-run it on a bigger one.
